TEAM Proto-col Multisport’s spring training is clearly paying dividends with both junior and senior members achieving podium success in races across the south west region for the third week in a row.
Having already qualified to represent Great Britain at the European Biathle Championships, James Greenwell and Kypros Harrison completed the double by qualifying for the triathle (laser pistol shoot, swim, run) European Championships at GB Pentathlon’s qualifying event at Leweston School.
Greenwell won overall with Harrison qualifying comfortably in third place, with the national and European Championships taking place in July.
Sixteen year old Matravers School pupil Callum Withers, in his first-ever triathle finished sixth in his age group event, while in the U19 girls event, last year's European champion Sarah Wilson took the gold medal and set a new course record.
On Sunday, at the Oldbury White Horse Triathlon in Calne, Dani Goodman, racing for the first time in nine years, had an outstanding comeback race.
Setting one of the fastest female swim splits for the 400m swim, she pushed hard through the challenging bike course that headed out of Calne and up towards the Oldbury White Horse, before a fast decent back into Calne.
Goodman surprised herself by finishing third female overall and second in her age group, while club head coach Richard Smith also put in a strong performance to finish finish in his age group and inside the top 20 overall.
