TROWBRIDGE AND DISTRICT FOOTBALL LEAGUE SPONSORED BY TROWBRIDGE WINDOWS AND CONSERVATORIES

DIVISION ONE

Devizes Town Reserves remain on top of The Trowbridge Windows and Conservatives sponsored Trowbridge and District League Division One thanks to a 4 – 2 win at Melksham Town ‘A’. Two goals from Alex Surman and one each from Kian Fulford and Richard Tandy keep the pressure up on their rivals. Both Melksham ‘A’ goals were scored by Jack Woolsgrove.

Marshfield remain favourites for the title, sitting in second place in The Trowbridge Windows and Conservatories sponsored Division One, just a point behind Devizes with two games in hand. Marshfield completed their first ten games with only two points dropped in the season so far with a 4 – 1 win over Freshford United. After an even start to the game Marshfield lost both Alex Fryer and captain Ben Gardner following an ugly clash of heads. Nick Manifold put Marshfield ahead before Nick Taylor, assisted by Gus Wright equalised for Freshford to level the scores just before the break. In the second half Marshfield took control and two goals from Tom Richards and a penalty from Josh Legg completed the scoring.

Warminster United stay in third place in Division One after a comprehensive 3 – 0 win against Three Daggers. Two penalties from Brendan Hind and a 25-yard screamer from Josh Gardner made sure the points went to Warminster.

Heytesbury remain in fourth place in The Trowbridge Windows and Conservatories sponsored Division One but still have an outside chance of the title due to playing less games than the teams above them. Heytesbury ran out 4 – 1 victors after their visit to Hilperton United. The game couldn’t have started much worse for Hilperton after losing goalkeeper Gary Clemments through injury in the first minute. After 22 minutes Heytesbury made the breakthrough when Myles Woodward picked up the ball on the halfway line, ran to the by-line and crossed for Corey Gardner to open the scoring with a header. Things got worse for Hilperton when they had a player sent off in the 60th minute and five minutes later Heytesbury made the player advantage count when Jake Wright increased the lead from the spot. With 16 minutes to go Adam Fearon scored his first ever goal for Heytesbury when he stretched out a leg to divert a Jake Wright shot past the home keeper. Wright got his second and the Heytesbury fourth six minutes later when he chested the ball over the line following an excellent cross from Mike Payne. To their credit Hilperton never gave up and Ryan Underwood grabbed a consolation in the last minute for the ten men.

Calne Town Reserves ran out comfortable 4 – 0 winners after their visit to Semington Magpies. Two goals from Edrin Asante and one each from Jordan Tarrant and Adam Sullivan moved Calne up to eighth place in The Trowbridge Windows and Conservatories sponsored Division One and leaves the Magpies one from the bottom in tenth.

DIVISION TWO

KEW PR FC made it ten wins out of ten and moved two points clear at the top of The Trowbridge Windows and Conservatories sponsored Division Two with a comprehensive 7 – 1 thumping of Aces FC. Things didn’t get off to the best of starts though for the promotion favourites when they lost captain Ricky Trott to injury early on but two goals from David Percival and further strikes from Ashley Poms, Dean Ranger, Kallum Townsend, Paul Ranger and Aaron Masson made it business as usual for the leaders. Radu Pandelica was on the scoresheet for Aces.

Staverton United dropped only their fifth point in their eleven games this season when they drew 1 – 1 against a strong Trowbridge Town Reserves side. Harry Ledbury scored the goal which keeps Staverton securely in the second promotion spot in The Trowbridge Windows and Conservatories sponsored Division Two. Adam Mitchell earned Trowbridge Town Reserves a well-earned point to lift his side to sixth in the table.

Dilton Marsh Wanderers kept up their promotion challenge with a 4 – 2 victory away at The Stiffs. The Stiffs took an early 2 – 0 lead with goals from George Hartrey and Darren Brewer before Callum Crabb reduced the arrears with a stunning free kick just before the break. Dilton took control in the second half and a hat-trick from Adam Welch ensured Dilton remain third in the league.

Seend United had Tom Jones to thank as his last-minute screamer earned his team a 3 – 3 draw against Calne Eagles after being 3 – 0 behind. Earlier in the game Billy Gleed put the Eagles ahead before Jack Boyd-Cox and Keiron Gleed put Calne in control. The Seend fightback started with a Ben Winn penalty. Rhys Edwards scored the second before Jones strike ensured the points were shared.

Barford Hornets had the result of the day when they beat Westbury United Reserves 5 – 3. Barford must have been fearing the worst after losing 7 – 0 to Westbury last weekend but four goals from Logan Read and one from Callum Ferguson gave the Hornets an unexpected second league win of the season to end Westbury’s five game winning run. Westbury United Reserves scorers were Ollie Dew with two and one from Marc Lanfear.
