A & B CUP SPONSORED BY AM PRINT & COPY 1ST ROUND

The A & B Cup sponsored by AM Print & Copy started this weekend with three very tight games each decided by a single goal.

Division Two side Bromham hosted Melksham Town ‘A’ from the Division above and in a very tight encounter, the match looked to be heading to extra time until Louis Harriss struck to send Melksham Town ‘A’ into the next round.

KEW PR FC were made to wait until the 88th minute of their game to break down the resistance of Division Two side Potterne in this first round tie of The A & B Cup sponsored by AM Print & Copy. With the game about to enter into an extra 30 minutes, Ryan Mortimer kept his head to stroke the ball home at the back post following a corner.

In an extremely exciting 1st round match in The A & B Cup sponsored by AM Print & Copy, Heytesbury booked their place in round 2 with a 4 - 3 win against Warminster Town Reserves. Sean Snook, Chris Bridle and two own goals were enough to see Heytesbury through. Craig Sheppard with a brace and Lee Rockingham were on the scoresheet for Warminster Town Reserves.

The first-round tie between Calne Eagles and Trowbridge Town Reserves was postponed.

DIVISION ONE

Hilperton United picked up their second league win of the season in The Trowbridge Windows and Conservatories sponsored Division One with a 3 – 1 home win over Warminster United. A Ben Spong brace and one from Liam Milburn saw the points go to Hilperton who also had Sam Walker to thank, Walker who normally plays at left back had an excellent match starring as a stand in goalkeeper. Warminster United’s goal was scored by Matthew Dyer.

A Gus Wright hat-trick helped improving Freshford United to an excellent 4 – 3 win from their visit to Marshfield. Tom Wade scored the other goal for the visitors to give Freshford their second league win from three matches this season and lift them to fifth in The Trowbridge Windows and Conservatories sponsored Division One. James Gardner, with a brace and a Josh Legg penalty replied for Marshfield.

Semington Magpies picked up their first point of the season in the Trowbridge Windows and Conservatories sponsored Division One with a hard fought 2 – 2 draw against Three Daggers. Alex Shaftoe opened the scoring for Magpies in the first half, but they found themselves 2 – 1 down at the break when Mark Young and an own goal by Toby Clarke put Three Daggers in front. In the second half Tyler Dagger scored the equaliser to grab a share of the points for Semington Magpies.

DIVISION TWO

Westbury United Reserves remain on top of The Trowbridge Windows and Conservatories sponsored Division Two but found themselves having to settle for just one point after a hard-fought 0 – 0 draw against improving side The Stiffs.

Staverton United closed the gap at the top of The Trowbridge Windows and Conservatories sponsored Division Two with a 5 – 1 win from their visit to Aces FC. Two goals from Harry Ledbury and one each from Alex Shaw, Mathew Dew and Dean Gumm means that Staverton are two points behind Westbury United Reserves with a game in hand on the leaders. Saba Claudiu scored the consolation for Aces FC.

Dilton Marsh Wanderers continued their challenge for the title and promotion from The Trowbridge Windows and Conservatories sponsored Division Two with a 3 – 1 win against Seend United. Seend opened the scoring through Harry Waylen and led 1 – 0 at the break. Dilton Marsh Wanderers improved in the second half and a double from Callum Crabb and one from Kieran Palmer lifted them to third place in Division Two, level with Staverton United and just two points behind Westbury United Reserves with a game in hand.
