BIDDESTONE extended their winning streak to seven matches by beating Rockhampton by six wickets.

The Gloucester and Wiltshire League leaders, who haven't lost since theopening game of the season, overcame Rockhampton's total of 208 with sevenovers to spare.

Rockhampton's top scorer was skipper Simon Hore, who hit nine fours and two sixes to end the innings on 91 not out.

William Cartlidge added to the home side's total by finishing the innings on a useful 29 not out after hitting a four and a six. Cartlidge later took the wicket of Biddestone opener Martin Sawyer for seven.

Clint Bowyer (3-37) and Mark Unwin (3-66) both took three wickets for the visitors with Naeem Khan (1-49) taking the wicket of opening batsmen Mark Beale for 15.

Biddestone's batsmen then produced a solid performance to secure a seventh straight victory. The top performers were Mike Hopkins who finished on 39, Clint Bowyer, whomade 43, Naeem Khan, who made 59 not out, and Jon Mason, who reached 39 notout.

Biddestone captain Kris Boulton said: "It went really well although I would like to think that we could have restricted them to about 175 if we could have held on to a few difficult catches.

"Their skipper Simon Hore batted very well and got a great 90, which I have to say was one of the best innings that we've faced this season. The wicket was improving throughout the day. It was getting flatter and easier to baton which I think shows in our batting figures.

"I thought Naeem Khan, Clint Bowyer and Mark Unwin all bowled well for us. You can always bank on those guys to take a few wickets and limit theopposition's runs.

"Everyone made a positive contribution in the game, which is what you wantweek in week out."

The win cements Biddestone's position at the top of the table, however second place Chippenham and third place Swindon are hot on their heels and Biddestone have to play Swindon twice in their next two fixtures.

Boulton added: "It looks like the top three are getting away from the rest alittle bit, but we have two tough games against Swindon coming up so we'll have to see where we are after that. We'll just keep taking each game as it comes as the old cliche goes. In this run of form we can't wait for the next game.

"But the true test will come when we lose, because I will need to see a response from the players."

Biddestone have a full squad for their top of the table clash against Swindon tomorrow after James Mitchell made himself available again after missing their trip to Rockhampton on Saturday.
