WARMINSTER'S Premier Two match against bottom of the table Taunton Deane was abandoned after just 12 overs due to persistent rain.

Warminster were prevented from building on victory in their last match against neighbours Westbury.

Taunton Deane won the toss and decided to bowl and their decision looked a good one as Grant Thompson took the early wickets of Richie Underdown (1)and Sean Maxwell (8), which left Warminster on 29 for two.

Opening batsmen Sean Adams (14) was then trapped lbw by Jason Squire, whoended with figures of one for 15 from three overs. But the rain prevented Mark Coxon Tenty (4) and skipper Carl Clarke (6) frommaking any significant impression on the game and the match was abandoned with Warminster on 60 for three.

Warminster captain Clarke said: "The problem wasn't the wicket or the outfield, it was the ends. There wasn't a consistent period of time when it wasn't raining so it didn't have the chance to dry out and we decided to abandon the game, which was the right decision."

Warminster travel to Keynsham tomorrow in what could prove an important match come the end of the season with Warminster lying in fourth and Keynsham just behind them in fifth.

Clarke certainly isn't making any predictions for the game.

He said: "I know Keynsham lost to Trowbridge at the weekend, but it might be a different story this weekend. You never know what's going to happen in this league."

Warminster welcome back Martin Bridle for the trip to Keynsham tomorrow after the bowler was unavailable for the Taunton Deane game.
