Michael Flynn was left angry and frustrated after Swindon Town conceded a late goal to draw 2-2 against Salford City.

Ethan Ingram and Remeao Hutton both scored in the first half before Charlie Austin thought he had won the game with a penalty, but Liam Humbles volleyed in an equaliser deep into stoppage time.

Flynn said that he had let the players know how he was feeling after they were made to settle for a point against ten men on the road once again.

He said: “I am not anxious, and I don’t think it is a pattern [losing points late on the road], because they have been completely different circumstances.

“But I am angry and frustrated and they [the players] have just had some home truths in there [the changing room].

“[The second goal] was poor decision-making by a few of the players and it has cost us, it is as simple as that.

“I am not going into the finer details of it, because that would mean I would have to dig out individuals and I don’t want to do that.

“It hurts and I care. They are a good team who have been there or thereabouts for the last few years and have very good players, but I am not the happiest bunny.”

Flynn said that dropping points was particularly maddening because of the quality of his side’s performance at the Peninsular Stadium.

He said: “That was as comprehensive of an away performance at Salford that you will get from any team in this league, apart from the first ten minutes.

“I always try and be fair and honest, we could have been two-nil down, but we got the goal, and that changed the whole complexion of the game.

“We have played some unbelievable football today, we moved the ball quickly, didn’t panic, didn’t force passes, we were brave on the ball.

“Like I have said there were so many positives from these players today, we have played superbly against a very good team.

“I am just gutted that we have not won the points.

“We got a penalty that was definitely a penalty, we score it and then we should see the game out.

“After that, we should have scored a third, but we decided to make a pass when I don’t know why. So, it was just very frustrating.”
