Charlie Austin said Swindon Town needed to work on their game intelligence after their 2-2 draw against Salford City.

Town were made to settle for a single point after they lead going into second-half stoppage time courtesy of Remeao Hutton and Austin's penalty coming after Ethan Ingram had given the Ammies an early lead. But Liam Humbles' late volley meant it ended all square.

Austin said that he felt Swindon have dropped too many points from advantageous positions so far this season.

He said: "[The frustration is] very high. It is very high for everybody, I think.

"I think that that is maybe eight points that we have dropped from winning positions.

"I know that you don't win anything in October, but come March, April time, it will be like 'only if we didn't do this' or 'only if we didn't do that.'

"If we miss out on the automatics [promotion spots], we don't want any of that.

"It is still early and we have got to learn quickly and we have to stop that from happening.

"I am just so disappointed for the whole team, staff, and traveling fans who have watched this.

"We need to show more game intelligence. If you watch Salford and they have Matt Smith down the middle then you are thinking that at every opportunity they are going long into the box, but he came off with ten minutes to go.

"Wrexham was just pure madness, the Morecambe one I would rather not talk about, and today I put it down to not having enough game intelligence."

Austin felt that Town need to get their points tally to match their performance levels after another display in which they did not get what they deserved.

He said: "I couldn't agree more, we played brilliantly, but we only got one point and that is the size of it.

"I would rather have come here and played terribly and won 2-1.

"There have been too many times now when we have played really well and come away with one point.

"There is nothing better than playing ugly and winning away from home, there really isn't.

"Maybe we might need to do that. I can't get away from how we have played, we have just battered Salford and played them off the park, but we have come away with one point and everybody is disappointed.
