Saidou Khan said that coming home with three points was the only positive to be taken from Swindon Town’s 4-3 victory over Accrington Stanley.

Swindon had seemed to be home and hosed after the end of regular time courtesy of goals from Khan, Dan Kemp, Jake Young, and Charlie Austin.

Then a frantic final seven minutes saw Stanley pull three goals back and were inches away from finding an equaliser as Town fell to pieces in stoppage time.

Khan was left very frustrated after the game despite Swindon having earned their first away win since another game with late drama against Forest Green Rovers in August.

He said: “I think that the only positive for us is the three points, I think that is the only positive we can take from today.

“We will go and enjoy the win tonight, but then tomorrow morning we will be back to work and going again instantly.

“We will be going over the last ten minutes and trying to improve that ahead of next Saturday.

“When you are on the pitch, for me personally, I am in my zone and you don’t see it as much, but from the outside you can see it coming, the gaffer can see it coming.

“I think that we need to learn quickly to attack and to still be aware of our surroundings, be aware of the danger and sense it earlier.”

Khan got his first goal of the season last night, a thunderbolt into the top corner from 25 yards out.

The midfielder said that while scoring more goals is something he would like to do, it is not always the easiest thing from his position.

He said: “This season we have just left [scoring goals] to Young and Kemp, they are magical players and they have been scoring the goals for us.

“Before the game Chaz [Charlie Austin] came up to me and told me when I was on the edge of the box, to shift it to my left foot and hit it.

“I think we have gone through a few managers that want me to defend first and it is hard when you are playing as a holding midfielder to get up the pitch and score.

“In the last few games I have had a bit of licence to go up and down and I feel like as a midfielder, if you can do that then you should get a few goals.”
