Michael Flynn described Swindon Town's performance during their 4-0 defeat to AFC Wimbledon as their "worst of the season".

Swindon were convincingly beaten at the Cherry Red Records Stadium as goals from Omar Bugiel, Armani Little, and a late brace from Ali Al-Hamadi displayed the gap between the two side's displays.

Flynn said that his side were well below expectations as they were comfortably beaten at the Cherry Red Records Stadium.

He said: "I thought we were awful. For the first half an hour, that was the worst we have been all season.

"I know they have scored two goals later on, we were chasing it [the gane] and being gung-ho and those goals were still avoidable as well.

"It is a bad, bad day at the office and I am not going to sugarcoat it, I will hold my hands up, but a couple of them [the players] need to have a good, strong look in the mirror."

Flynn said that despite his side's abject performance from the first whistle, it was not down to being surprised by what the hosts had in store for them.

He said: "No, nothing they did came as a surprise, I wish it had been.

"You have seen our analysis video, what we have done with the players on Friday and Saturday.

"When you start a game as poorly as we did then you get punished and we are causing our own problems at the minute.

"We worked a lot on Al Hamadi finding pockets of space, when we have got the ball he comes alive because he tries to find that yard of space, or five yards of space like we were allowing him.

"We worked on that and someone staying with him and we had three there but nobody was doing it.

"I thought Frazer [Blake-Tracy] did well today, he is probably the bright spark and I thought he had a game.

"Collectively today wasn't good enough."

Although he felt it was not what ultimately what cost his side the game, Flynn took exception to Wimbledon's opening goal.

Bugiel turned home at the back post after Blake-Tracy and a Wimbledon player had both gone down after a clash of heads, but the referee opted not to stop play.

Flynn said: "We were very poor defensively today, and I don't mean just the defenders, I mean everyone.

"We have conceded 40 goals now in the league, which is way too many, some teams will go the whole season without conceding that many.

"The first goal shouldn't have been allowed because there were two down with head injuries for ten to 15 seconds.

"The fourth official is telling the referee, so it is a diabolical decision for them to play on because it is about the safety of the players.

"But we weren't good enough and that was only one goal.

"I am not going to dress it up, we need to be better and then go on another mini run again."
