Udoka Godwin-Malife said that Swindon Town need to do things to get the crowd off their feet when they face Forest Green Rovers on Friday night.

Swindon are on their worst run of form since April 2021, having lost all of their last four matches in League Two ahead of facing bottom-of-the-table Forest Green at the County Ground.

The former Forest Green defender is in line for a return against his old club after recovering from a bout of food poisoning that ruled him out of games against Tranmere Rovers and Wrexham AFC.

Godwin-Malife said that he and his teammates need to do small actions to help the fans get behind them when they return to action on Friday night.

He said: “I feel like the crowd reacts to actions in games, so whether that is a tackle or pressing someone and winning the ball back, whether that is driving forward with the ball, it is just about little actions that get the crowd on side.

“Then when we get our foothold in the game then it gives them a boost and they can really get off their seats and back us the whole way.”

With Swindon's difficulties of late and injuries, squad harmony has become more important than ever and Godwin-Malife said that the side need to believe that their form will turn around as a group and that will make it easier for them to do it on the field.

He said: “It is not a secret that we are facing adversity, but it is about how you stick together and pull through that adversity and come out of the situation on the other side.

“Time is a healer and it is going to take time, but when that win does come and the wins start to come in sequences then I am sure it will be fine.

“We just need to remind ourselves of what we are good at and remind ourselves that we can do it because we have done it before.

“We were on a really good run at the start of the season and just getting the feel-good factor back into the team.

“It is about being positive, I know it sounds like a cliché, but it is all you can do, you have to be positive.

“We are manifesting things that are going to happen and then hopefully that will be the outcome.”
