Swindon Town have confirmed that they have brought back Ricky Aguiar from his season-long loan at Worthing.

Swindon have had three first-team players out on loan during the first part of the season, with Conor Brann extending his stay at Swindon Supermarine until the end of the season this week, Aguiar strutting his stuff in the National League South, and Tomi Adeloye playing for Partick Thistle in the Scottish Championship.

Aguiar has been enjoying a fine spell in National League South with Worthing, finding the back of the net 11 times this season from midfield, with only four players having scored more in the division this season.

When asked about what the possibility was that he could recall either of Adeloye and Aguiar at the press conference ahead of Swindon's game against Colchester United, Flynn said that he was not prepared to rule out any option.

He said: “Possibly [they could come back], I have been sitting down with Jamie [Russell] and putting things together.

“If we had got the players in that I wanted straight away then I am not sure [we would recall them], but Ricky has done well.

“He has scored 11 goals and got five assists so maybe he has earned the right for us to have a closer look at him."

Aguiar has enjoyed a fine season back at his boyhood club Worthing as they challenge for promotion and has been earning rave reviews for his performances in the sixth tier and now returns to Town.

Speaking to the Adver, Rebel Yell commentator Peter Vale said: “He has definitely matured as a player, without a shadow of a doubt.

“His passing range was good before, but he is on another level now, some of the crossfield balls he plays are just unbelievable.

“He is also adding goals now, he wasn’t prolific before, he would score the odd freekick or the odd one from range, but nothing like he is doing now.

“He is popping up on the edge of the opposition penalty area, occasionally when we do go direct he is taking up good positions and I think three of his goals have come from those sorts of positions.

“I see no reason why he couldn’t play in League Two, he has definitely got it. With his passing range and getting stuck in in the midfield, he has definitely got that real quality which is there to see.”
