Michael Flynn said that he was confident of being able to bring in multiple signings this week to help lift the mood around Swindon Town.

Following the first week of the January transfer window, Swindon brought in one player, Dawson Devoy on loan, and the Town boss said that the club had encountered multiple roadblocks in the pursuit of further additions.

However, Flynn said that he believed that he was going to be able to make the signings this week which would help to give everyone around the club a lift.

He said: “It has been a tough few weeks but we have got to get on with it and one thing I am is consistent because I will keep working as hard as I can.

“Jamie Russell and I have not stopped, it is early days, and it has been a frustrating first few days of the window, I am not going to dress it up.

“But we have got targets, we have got more targets, and I am hoping to get three or four through the door this week and if we do that it will give everybody a lift.

“The supporters, myself, the players, the whole club, and I think you two as well [BBC Wiltshire’s Andrew Hawes and the Adver’s Joe Acklam] as it will give you something to write about instead of what can we do about individual errors.”

Flynn said that factors beyond his control had conspired in the opening week of the window to mean that he was unable to bring in multiple players who would have featured against Colchester United.

He said: “I am not going to come out here and start slinging mud, I am consistent, and I work as hard as I can with the tools that I have and the club are working hard.

“We had a player agreed who would have played today in the middle of a back three, I will tell you the position but you are not having the name.

“On the day he was due to come down, he rolled his ankle in training.

“I was going to make a phone call this evening to a striker but he has only gone and started and scored, so that is how it is going.

“Clubs have changed their mind at the 11th hour, not the player but the club because they have not been able to get somebody in.”
