Swindon Town have confirmed that defender Benn Ward will return to his parent club Burnley after his loan spell was brought to an end.

Ward joined Swindon in August and featured in each of their first three league games as well as coming off the bench against Peterborough and starting against Arsenal under-21s in domestic cup matches.

However, an injury has meant that he has been unable to be involved since then and has spent much of the first half of this season back at his parent club rehabbing from his hernia.

Ward has now been officially recalled from his loan spell at the County Ground, meaning that all four of Swindon's loan players this season have returned to their parent clubs after half a season.

Michael Flynn said on Ward on Friday: "Benn has returned, he has been out for a long time. He had his operation and is in the middle of his rehab, so he is probably close to coming back now.

"Benn has done his rehab at Burnley because they have got much better facilities than we have got and more staff and everything, so it was much more beneficial for him to do it there."
