Michael Flynn said that he is not struggling to attract players to Swindon Town as the pursuit of new players remains ongoing.

Swindon have so far only brought in one new face in the form of Milton Keynes Dons midfielder Dawson Devoy on loan and have had a slow start to the transfer window with many early complications getting in the way of potential deals.

Flynn had said that he was looking to get players in early as he looks to revitalise a struggling squad, but he said that this has not been down to having difficulty trying to persuade players that Swindon is the right destination.

He said: “It doesn’t matter with this one player [who chose to go elsewhere], it has nothing to do with finances.

“We matched the offer that the other club made, and I know that because I have spoken to the parent club.

“It was nothing to do with that, this was purely down to location and that is something that Swindon can’t do anything about.

“With those ones, you just have to hold your hands up and move on to the next one and that is what it is.

“In terms of Swindon as a proposition, for me, Swindon is still a very, very attractive football club.

“We have big crowds, a good stadium, and a passionate crowd.

“We are light on numbers, but we are working hard to rectify that, and we have players coming back from injury.”

Flynn also said that the lack of business was not through want of trying but that he was ensuring that the players being brought in are of the standard that he requires.

He said: “I am speaking to a lot [of players], we are doing a lot of work speaking to a lot of clubs and a lot of agents.

“A lot of teams are not letting them out right now if it was a loan or if we were to take them on a permanent basis.

“There are players that want to go elsewhere because they are being offered more money, a different location, or a higher league – there are all different factors.

“I could go out now and sign ten players but whether they are good enough for Swindon Town is a different matter.

“Why would I do that? I am only going to allow players to go if I can bring better in.”
