Swindon Town have completed the permanent signing of goalkeeper Jack Bycroft from Southampton, subject to EFL approval.

The goalkeeper has spent the first half of this season in the National League with Oxford City, keeping two clean sheets during his two-month stay with the Hoops and has also spent time with the first-team at Southampton, travelling with the team to games multiple times but is yet to make his Saints debut.

The 22-year-old came through the academy at Southampton, signing a senior contract with the Championship outfit in 2018, and has had plenty of experience in non-league, featuring for Weymouth, Dorchester, Taunton Town, and Aldershot Town during his career.

Bycroft has also been capped by the England Under-19s, playing 45 minutes of a friendly against France in a squad that included the likes of Anthony Gordon, Curtis Jones, and James Garner.

His time with Taunton was particularly fruitful as he played 48 games for the Peacocks and kept 19 clean sheets as they finished 14th in National League South for which he was named in the division’s Team of the Season. Taunton had the second-best defensive record outside of the play-offs with Bycroft between the sticks.
