Championship club Middlesbrough are interested in bringing Harrison Minturn to The Riverside, according to The Sun journalist Alan Nixon.

Nixon reported on his Patreon over the weekend that former Swindon man Michael Carrick was interested in the 20-year-old Town academy graduate and suggested that the deal could be wrapped up prior to the end of this window.

Having made his first league start against Leyton Orient last season, Minturn has become a core part of the first team this term, starting all of Swindon’s last 12 games and making 18 appearances overall in League Two.

Minturn penned a new contract that tied him down until the summer of 2025 in October, saying upon signing that deal that he was hoping to get more regular football at Town.

Boro presently have an experienced set of central defenders in Dael Fry, Paddy McNair, Darragh Lenihan, and Matt Clark alongside the 19-year-old Rav van den Berg, with Minturn likely to be a developmental prospect for Carrick.

Following a slow start to the season, Middlesbrough have recovered and are just three points off the play-off places in the Championship and are preparing to play their Carabao Cup semi-final second leg against Chelsea on Tuesday.
