Gavin Gunning said that he plans to “turn his phone off” as Swindon look set to try and keep hold of the players they currently possess.

It has been a busy January transfer window at the County Ground so far, with six players coming in and seven departing this month, with the potential for more to happen before the window closes at 11 pm tonight.

Outside of all four of Swindon’s loan players heading back to their parent clubs this month, Remeao Hutton has been sold to Gillingham for an undisclosed fee, and Lewis Ward and Liam Kinsella have both made switches to League One.

Speculation has persisted about the potential for more Swindon players to leave before the window slams shut, but Gunning said that at present there was no plan to move on players in the first-team picture.

He said: “I haven’t been made aware of any [bids for Swindon players] yet, but I will be turning my phone off soon.

“I think that we have an option [to extend] on a lot of them [the players whose contracts expire in the summer], so it is what it is.

“I don’t know [about any outgoings] right now. I hope not, but we will see.

“If we need to get rid of one or two then we will, that is fine, but they would be players that aren’t going to play.”

Gunning was also hopeful of making further additions to his squad ahead of the window closing as Town look to add further depth to a squad that has been down to its bare bones at points this season.

Swindon’s transfer dealings this month have been complicated by the EFL punishment that prevents them from paying any transfer fee, loan fee, or any other form of payment other than a sell on fee when bringing in players this window.

The interim head coach has previously said that he was confident of making at least two signings this week, with Zack Elbouzedi having already joined on loan from AIK, and that looks still to be the case on Deadline Day.

He said: "As we speak, nobody is here at the minute, but I think that by the end of play today we should have one or two in.

“Clem [Morfuni] is backing us with some good signings that we have made and another couple that we are going to make.”
