Gavin Gunning said that a ‘lack of concentration’ has resulted in Swindon dropping points late in games.

The Robins have struggled at times to stay in the lead this season but the head coach has stated that he wants his side to be mentally drained at the end of games.

Gunning said: “I think sometimes it can be without people realising that it creeps in.

“It’s just a lack of a concentration, you’ve got to concentrate for 90 minutes and it might drain you but you’ve got to do that.

“When you come off and then you’re sat in the changing room, you shouldn’t even be able to talk because you’re mentally drained, not just physically.

“Because that moment you switch off and it turns over, they might get us in transition and they score, like Gillingham.”

The game against the Gills was a tough one to take for Gunning’s side as they were in control for most of the game and were unlucky to not come away with three points.

The interim boss then further assessed Tuesday’s game and discussed how frustrating it was.

“They should score at the end and that’s fine but before that they didn’t really have a chance.

“They had corners and that but there weren’t clear chances.

“Then we switch off a little bit, ricochets, ricochets, then they were in behind somehow so that is quite frustrating but is also good for learning as well to what we need to create the environment going forward.”

Despite this, Gunning is desperate to turn that around and is happy with the progress he’s made so far.

“Obviously, it’s tough coming in to try and reinvent the wheel in four weeks, it’s never gonna happen.

“We’ve done quite well with how we’ve changed the style of play that quickly which I’m happy with but you can’t change it all, it takes a couple of months to be honest."
