The protest against the hierarchy of Swindon Town at the County Ground was called off before it started on Saturday.

Following a difficult season on and off the pitch for the club, fan sentiment has been souring against the current ownership of the club and one fan had taken it upon himself to organise a protest.

The Adver spoke to the organiser, Jason Lane, last week and he said that he felt like something had to be done or he feared that the situation would “end up in a worse position than Reading.”

The protest had been set to take place ahead of Swindon’s 3-2 victory against AFC Wimbledon at the County Ground on Saturday but ended shortly after it was slated to begin.

According to Lane on X, Swindon matchday guest Zavier Austin, who in August 2021 the club attempted to make Vice Chairman but have since said has nothing to do with the club, approached him as the protest was set to begin.

Following a conversation in which Lane says he conveyed his feelings about a need for change at the club, the protest was suspended and so far, there is no indication whether a follow-up will occur.
