Former Swindon Town striker Harry Parsons has returned to Chippenham Town as the Bluebirds made a double dip in the transfer market.

The Town academy graduate, who made 25 appearances in the first team at the County Ground, has gone back to Chippenham, where he has previously had two loan spells.

Parsons is fondly remembered at Hardenhuish Park as he netted five goals in seven National League South matches during his first stint in 2021/22, before returning again in 2022/23 when he netted three more in the league and scored in the FA Cup Second Round against Burton Albion.

Speaking to club media on his return, Parsons said: “It feels very good [to be back], when the call came and I was able to come here, it was a no-brainer, I thought straight away that I would sign here at the start of the off-season.

“I have spoken to Gary [Horgan] a lot, he has tried signing me for a few years, I have had an offer higher but this was the team I would come to if I was signing in this league.

“At Maidenhead last year it was a different style and a league higher, which was a good experience, but I didn’t play as much as I would have wanted to.

“I need to play football and that is the main reason why I have come here, I have linked up with Gary before and I know how he is and he knows how I am.

“As a forward, you always want to score goals and I want to help the team as much as possible and repay Gary because he has been trying to get me for ages, so I would like to repay that faith.”

Parsons left Swindon last summer and joined National League side Maidenhead United, although he was limited to 12 appearances there and also spent time on loan with Banbury United and Weymouth.

It was a busy weekend for Chippenham as they also announced the signing of former Yeovil Town winger Will Dawes.

The 23-year-old made 22 appearances for the Glovers as they won National League South last season but has departed the club at the end of the season to join the Bluebirds.

Dawes came through the ranks at Cheltenham Town before moving to Huish Park and impressed in a loan spell with Stratford Town, winning their Supporters Player of the Year in 2021/22 before moving into Yeovil's first team.
