WESTBURY crashed back to earth this weekend at the hands of Dorset & Wilts One South leaders Bridport.
For the first half an hour the sides were evenly matched, with Westbury at times in the ascendancy drawing first blood with a well-taken penalty by Sam McQueen.
They then almost got the first try of the game when wing Greg Atkinson intercepted in the Westbury 22 only to be dragged down short of the line.
Bridport then showed why they are the league leaders with two converted tries in quick succession and a penalty of their own to make the half-time score 17 – 3.
Briport managed a further five tries in the second half, three of which were converted.
Despite the large score Westbury never stopped trying, notable mentions going to the front row of Dan Haines, Jack Bates and Chris Gillam, who caused their Bridport counterparts all sorts of problems.
