WARMINSTER consigned their previous week's disappointing defeat to leaders Bridport straight to the history books as they hammered long-time rivals Puddletown.

Traditionally, games between the two are difficult affairs, but this time the Amber Blues were determined to put the record straight and prove the gulf in class.

Within the first five minutes Warminster scored the first of 11 tries, setting the tone for the game.

From quick ruck ball, Jimmy Woznica found his half-back partner Gavin Pratt, who spotted a gap in the defence to ghost over.

He added the extras and almost straight away, Warminster got their second try.

Good hands saw the ball reach winger Scott Blaszkiw who should have had a clean run in from 15 yards.

However, he fell over with no player within 10 yards before regaining his composure to get the score in the corner.

Ron Rokovale nonchantly kicked the conversion from out wide.

Next on the scoresheet was full-back Alex Payne, scoring the first of his five tries in typical fashion, bursting through the Puddletown defence with pace and power.

Further tries from Payne, completing his hat-trick, saw Warminster lead 43-0 at half time.

At half time coach Rob Rowbotham drilled it into the team to practice training grounds plays and to not get white line fever but, in the second half, Warminster were guilty of poor discipline.

Knowing the game was well won, they continually infringed when there was no need.

However this did not stop the try rout.

Scores from Woznica, Payne and a typical battering ram try from Dave Coleman kept the scoreboard ticking.

Warminster then found themselves camped on their own line as the gallant Puddletown, who never gave up throughout the afternoon, had a spell of pressure.

They could not however breach the line and Warminster soaked the pressure up and then scored their best try of the game.

From a lineout inside their own half, the ball found its way out to Chris Bell.

Expecting to offload to his fly-half partner Pratt, suddenly winger Dave Jessup appeared from nowhere on the crash ball.

Jessup took the tackle and offloaded to Pratt who in turn found supporting men Jason Sprangle and James Molyneux, the two interchanging passes and eventually offloading to Rokovale to complete the score.

The final try of the game rather fortunately came from an intercepted pass as Rokovale ran the length of the pitch to complete his brace.

Warminster travle to Oakmedians 2nd looking to gain revenge for the defeat inflicted on them earlier in the season.
