CUMBERWELL Park touring pro Steve Surry will make his second start on the main European Tour this season tomorrow when he tees it up in the Iberdrola Open, at Calla Millor, Mallorca.
Surry will be competing in a strong field, which includes former Ryder Cup players Paul McGinley, Thomas Levet and Andrew Coltart.
Bristolian Chris Wood, who finished tied third in the 2009 Open at Turnberry, is also competing.
Surry has had a mixed start to the season so far, making the cut at the Challenge Tour event in Kenya, but then missing the mark in Turkey and also on the main tour in Madeira.
The Trowbridge man will have different caddy this week, as regular bagman Harry Bird had already committed to caddy for Andrew Marshall before Surry’s entry was confirmed.
Fellow Cumberwell pro Rob Humperson has stepped into the breach to caddy for Surry this week.
Matt Swales, who is also based at Cumberwell Park, is competing on The Jamega Tour at The Players Club this week.
