ADIE Mings says stability is key at Chippenham Town and a settled squad is his recipe for success at Hardenhuish Park.

The Bluebirds have retained the vast majority of last season’s play-off final reaching squad, with Ross Adams, Jon Davies and Ben Highmore the only notable departures over the past year, while the likes of Ashley Edenborough, Nathan Rudge and most recently, James Guthrie, have come in this season.

Chippenham chief Mings says that he would never be tempted into making spur-of-the-moment additions during the season and says that it’s rare to see players yearning for the exit door at Hardenhuish Park.

“It hasn’t really happened that regularly this season I suppose. We had Mike Perrott, who decided he wanted to go back to Frome but I don’t think there’s been anyone else,” said the Bluebirds boss.

“We’ve been quite lucky that the lads enjoy what we do here and obviously that’s why we try not to have a high turnover of players.

“We’re not like a lot of clubs who, once they get a couple of indifferent results, they just go and sign two or three players.”

Mings says the hard work put in by his management team makes Chippenham an attractive place for his players to play their football.

“We try and work with the players we’ve got here at the football club to make them better players,” he said.

“For the last few years it’s paid dividends and we’ve never really had a high turnover of players throughout the season because these lads enjoy coming here, enjoy working and enjoy what the management team do.

“Hopefully, we’ve got a settled side from now until the end of the season – the group’s good and we just need to make sure that we stick together and keep growing and developing as a side.

“We need to keep on working hard because it’s hard work that wins games.

“You can have all the best players in the world but if you don’t work hard then you’ll come unstuck.”
