LOCAL stalwart Mel Gingell says he decided to end his four-year spell in charge of Corsham Town after feeling that he couldn’t take the club any further.
The former Wiltshire, Wiltshire u18s, Chippenham and Melksham Town boss, who took over from Colin Bush at the start of the 2007/2008 season, handed the reigns over to former Corsham reserve team boss Trevor Rawlings last Friday.
With a host of first-teamers leaving the Southbank over the summer, Gingell predicts a difficult season ahead for the county’s only representatives in the Toolstation League Premier Division.
“I really felt that I’d taken the club as far as it could go and it was getting a bit of a struggle because we’ve got no budget to move things forward.
“We had a great squad last year and with a little bit more, they could have been challenging at the top of that division but when they’re moving on to go and play at lower levels, then it becomes really difficult.”
