CHIPPENHAM were trounced by eight wickets at Ashcott & Shapwick.

Only Uzi Qureshi (64) put up any resistance as the away side were bowled out for 109, with Ben Rudge (4-30) the pick of the attack.

Qureshi’s half-century included seven fours and occupied 111 balls as the majority of his teammates surrendered their wickets Only Trevor Lloyd with 14 made double figures aside from Qureshi.

And the hosts had little trouble knocking off the runs, with Nayan Karmarkar (51 not out) and Steve Tinnion (43 not out) seeing them home despite the loss of two early wickets. Karmarkar hit six fours in 93 balls, while Tinnion smashed seven boundaries in his 77-ball knock.

For Chippenham, only captain Paul Bates threatened with the ball. The skipper ended up with 2-23, but Ashcott plodded their way to victory.
