CORSHAM had a day to forget when they visited Weston-super-Mare on Saturday.

The visitors were dismissed for just 74, with only Tom Abbott (11) and Ashur Morrison (11) making double figures.

For Weston, Sean Stringer took 5-30 in eight-and-a-half overs of incisive seam bowling and Shabil Ahmed mopped up the tail with 3-11 from his six overs towards the end of the innings.

The hosts were never likely to struggle to such a modest target, and they eased to the win with seven wickets and 33-and-a-half overs to spare.

Edd Brown struck an unbeaten 53 at better than a run a ball, which included 11 boundaries.

With the ball, Corsham trio Thomas Hankins, Tom Bowler and Craig Chaplin each claimed one scalp, but there were not enough runs to play with.

Corsham remain rooted to the foot of Premier One after the defeat.

Matches against Bristol and Taunton St Andrews still remain, and Hankins’ side will need to win at least one if they are to survive.
