WE’RE right at the end of the season now and that also means that it’s the end of the summer, which isn’t a good thing!

We’ve been getting ready for our last minor counties match of the season up in Shropshire this weekend and it seems like the season has just flown by.

It does seem like a long time ago that we were playing our one-dayers but to be getting ready for the final three-day game is a strange feeling.

Looking at their team, they’re probably a tiny bit weaker than they were last year but at the same time, I don’t like to spend too much time doing that because it’s all about us and what we do.

They are still a good side, just like all the other ones that we’ve played this year in the championship - they usually have a few ex-pros in their line-up and that bit of quality always makes things more difficult for the other side.

We won’t talk exactly about what we want to do in the game until we’re on the way up there on Saturday, but the main thing is to make sure that we go up there and enjoy our cricket.

Making sure that we get a good first innings score will be the important thing to do again and if you look at our points from this season, you can see that it’s really been our Achilles’ heel.

When it comes to bonus points, we’ve picked 18 out of 20 for bowling but then only five out of 20 for batting.

It would be lovely to finish with a win but we haven’t had one yet and you don’t want to put pressure on it.

We’re bottom again, like we were last year, but I’ve definitely been pleased with the performances from the team this season instead of the results.

We’ve got a new young side and they’ve shown great togetherness and enthusiasm this year.

There are a few changes to the side for this match - Jayden Levitt has been called up to play for the Unicorns after impressing for us and that shows just what playing well for Wiltshire can do for you.

Steve Warner has an ankle injury and Chris Denham is also unavailable.

That all means that Owen Alsop will be coming back in after his injury and Sam Mount will be in the team too - that gives us the option of having two spinners in the side.

Steve Bullen is also another one who’ll be coming in to the batting line-up.
