TROWBRIDGE'S recent run of success came to an abrupt halt when they were soundly beaten at North Dorset in the semi-final of the Dorset & Wilts 1st XV Vase.
Straight from the off, the home side’s forwards took control and denied Trowbridge any possession.
The visitors were hindered when influential flanker Jamie Little had to leave the field after only five minutes with a hand injury.
The pack, missing a number of first-choice players, were given a hard time in the scrums and won little lineout possession.
But to the credit of the defence and, in particular full-back Will Powell, they denied their hosts any score until midway through the first half.
Trowbridge got on the board through a Kyle Knight penalty, but three unconverted tries gave North Dorset the upper hand.
The first 10 minutes of the second half belonged to Trowbridge and it seemed they may pull the game out of the fire.
But once the home team got their act together it was mostly one-way traffic and they scored a further 34 unanswered points.
The two teams meet again in Southern Counties South on Saturday.
