A REWARD to help find the killer of Bradford Leigh's Melanie Hall has doubled to £100,000.

The Sun newspaper has matched the £50,000 amount put forward by Melanie's parents Steve and Pat Hall in hope of convicting the person or people responsible for their daughter’s murder.

Miss Hall, who was 25 at the time and worked as a clerical worker at the Royal United Hospital in Bath, vanished after a night out at Cadillacs nightclub in the city on June 9, 1996.

More than 13 years later, in 2009, her remains were discovered in a plastic binbag on the side of the M5 – 30 miles from where she disappeared.

On the 20th anniversary of her disappearance last month, police announced they had achieved a DNA breakthrough in their investigation which was followed up by a Crimewatch Roadshow episode, with more than 20 callers providing information.

"We are willing to put up everything we had," Mr Hall told The Sun.

"We have a crusade in Melanie’s name to bring to justice her killer, and we are doing everything we can within our means to support the police in doing this.

"Whatever we’ve done in the past is not sufficient to bring them forward but with the potential of £100k on the table we’re in a much better position to entice that person to change their mind than we ever have been - because that sum of money is life changing.

"I’m incredibly grateful that The Sun has matched our £50,000 because that gives it much more clout."

A 45-year-old man arrested in June in connection with her murder has had his bail extended. He is due to report back to police on August 11.
