A 36-year-old man has been banned from Sainsbury’s in Melksham after allegedly stealing two legs of lamb worth £40 on Tuesday, December 16, at 5.30pm.

He voluntarily spoke to police in Melksham and a summons is being issued for him to appear in court.

Garage in Middle Lane, Whitley and in High Street, Broughton Gifford were broken into on Tuesday, December 16.

Power tools were stolen including two chainsaws, an angle grinder and Bosch power drills. Some of the tools taken from Whitley are engraved with the name Emery. A garage in Grange Close, Whitley, was broken into the same night, but nothing was taken.

Staff at Melksham Card and News Centre rang police after seeing a man trying to steal lead from the shop’s roof on Tuesday, December 16, just before 2.30pm.

The man  fled to other roofs and is described as  in his 20s wearing baggy trousers, a checked jacket and a dark woolly hat.
