HAYLEY Spencer has been voted as the new Melksham Town Councillor representing the central ward following a by-election.
The 29-year-old of Blackmore Road, received 511 of the votes and sits on behalf of the Liberal Democrats party.
John Stewart, of Longleaze Lane, representing the Conservative party received 250 votes.
She also owns comic book shop KomiX in Church Street and has run it for nearly four years. She said: “It feels great to be elected, and I hope that it means I'll be able to be an active voice on the council for residents and businesses in the central area.
“The Town Council already does great work, and I'm excited to join and add my efforts, and discover new opportunities to help with, develop and promote.”
In Broughton Gifford Parish Council’s by-election Martin Freeman, of The Street, has been elected with 137 votes. Contesting the seat was Henry Lumley, of The Common, who received 110 votes.
