WARMINSTER School’s hockey team went on a Dutch adventure during half term and crammed plenty of hockey matches and cultural visits into their trip.

The school took a party of 74 pupils on the tour to Noordwijk, where they played a total of 24 matches and took part in three training sessions.

Pupils also found time to visit Clara Maria cheese farm and clog factory, go on a canal cruise, watch a premier league hockey match, visit the beach and enjoy the many slides at the Duinrell Amusement and Waterpark.

Warminster fielded six hockey teams – two girls and four boys – against local opposition including MHC Alliance, HC Saxenburg, HDS Den Haag, HC De Kieviten, HGC Wassenaar HC Castricum, HC Haarlem, MHC Uitgeest and HC Overbos.

The school won some matches and lost others and made plenty of new friends from across Europe.

Director of sport, Chris Knight, said: "I would personally like to thank the staff for giving up their time to support this wonderful trip and for all their efforts on and off the pitch. It was clearly an incredible experience for all.

“The hospitality in every venue was second to none and many of our pupils have come away with new contacts.”

Pupil Archie Fogg, who was part of the tour, said: "Thank you ?Warminster Sport for the amazing hockey tour to Holland.

“It was an amazing week and I didn't want to leave Noordwijk. It was fab."
