A PLANNING application for a ‘small business scheme’ at Hawke Ridge Business Park near Westbury has been submitted to Wiltshire Council by property developers HPH Ltd.

The scheme, to be called Kestrel Court, will include 20 units ranging in size from 1,500 square ft to 5,500 square ft as well as parking for 99 cars.

Councillor Horace Prickett is worried about the impact the business park is having in nearby Yarnbrook.

He said: “Traffic is already bad enough in Yarnbrook with refuse vehicles from Hills Waste, trucks from Arla Dairy and freight vehicles from Tuffnells without traffic from the business park.

"The roads are very congested and residents are fed up with it.

“Wiltshire Council has ignored our requests to redirect traffic but hopefully we will need to be listened to this time.”

Chris Wordsworth, development director at HPH Ltd, said: “Although we have the capacity to accommodate large space users at Hawke Ridge Business Park we also want to create facilities that enable businesses of all sizes to thrive and succeed.

“This latest detailed planning application for 20 commercial units is specifically designed with the small business community in mind. We have already had a huge amount of interest in the units which demonstrates the current lack of supply in Wiltshire.”
