A RESIDENT at Chantry Court Retirement Village in Westbury recently celebrated her 103rd birthday.

Florence Woolley was the star of the show on December 14 when she celebrated an impressive birthday at the retirement village.

Lisa Beeson, manager at Chantry Court said: "We got Mrs Woolley a cake and we had a quiet little celebration for her birthday like she wanted.

"She had a lovely day."

Born in Birmingham, Mrs Woolley grew up there until marrying her husband Keith in 1937.

They went on to have two children, Richard and Elizabeth and lived in Australia for two years.

The family then moved to Surrey were they spent most of their lives. Mrs Woodley was a nurse during the war and Mr Woodley was a mining engineer.

In 1983 Mr Woolley passed away, leaving behind Mrs Woolley and their two children, and sadly, just three years go Mrs Woolley's daughter Elizabeth died from cancer, aged 70.

Richard then found Chantry Retirement Village for his mother and she moved in their aged 99, and since has really settled in.

Richard, 72, said: "My mum is slowly loosing her site, and is almost blind now, but she had a nice little celebration for her 103rd celebration, which is really quite an achievement."
