WILTSHIRE police swooped on a haulage company in Dorset this morning to arrest three people on suspicion of corporate manslaughter.
It is the latest move in an investigation that has been ongoing since two people from Colchester in Essex were killed following a crash at Keysley Down on the A303 in south Wiltshire on March 2.
Today, police arrested three men, aged 35, 42 and 56 and one 29-year-old woman at the company premises. They have been taken to the police station in Salisbury to be questioned about the incident and company protocols.
The two victims died when a truck was in collision with the rear of their green Ford Mondeo travelling in the same direction, which caused the Mondeo to cross into the path of an oncoming Ford Escort.
Both the male driver and the female front seat passenger of the Mondeo were critically injured.
Pc John Hutchings said: "Despite heroic efforts by members of the public the female passenger died at the scene as a result of her injuries.
"The male driver was airlifted to Salisbury District Hospital but died a short time later from his injuries."
The 64-year-old male driver of the Escort, who is not local, was taken by land ambulance to Salisbury District Hospital.
His condition was described as serious but his injuries are not thought to be life threatening.
The 34-year-old driver of the truck, a Polish national, who was uninjured, was arrested at the scene on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and he was taken to Salisbury police station for questioning.
The crash happened at 3.23pm on a single carriageway section of the A303 at Keysley Down, a quarter of a mile east of Willoughby Edge services at West Knoyle.
Fire crews from Mere, Tisbury, Wilton and Salisbury attended the scene and the road was closed for six hours for the police to carry out investigations.
The truck and Ford Mondeo were travelling westbound on the A303 and the Ford Escort was travelling eastbound.
